Alienated- Melissa Landers

Title: Alienated
Series: Alienated #1
Author: Melissa Landers
Rating: 4 Stars

Two years ago, the aliens made contact. Now Cara Sweeney is going to be sharing a bathroom with one of them.

Handpicked to host the first-ever L’eihr exchange student, Cara thinks her future is set. Not only does she get a free ride to her dream college, she’ll have inside information about the mysterious L’eihrs that every journalist would kill for. Cara’s blog following is about to skyrocket.

Still, Cara isn’t sure what to think when she meets Aelyx. Humans and L’eihrs have nearly identical DNA, but cold, infuriatingly brilliant Aelyx couldn’t seem more alien. She’s certain about one thing, though: no human boy is this good-looking.

But when Cara's classmates get swept up by anti-L'eihr paranoia, Midtown High School suddenly isn't safe anymore. Threatening notes appear in Cara's locker, and a police officer has to escort her and Aelyx to class.

Cara finds support in the last person she expected. She realizes that Aelyx isn’t just her only friend; she's fallen hard for him. But Aelyx has been hiding the truth about the purpose of his exchange, and its potentially deadly consequences. Soon Cara will be in for the fight of her life—not just for herself and the boy she loves, but for the future of her planet.
Honestly I don't read a lot of sic-fi, I mean aliens just.... meh. I feel like every time I pick up a sci-fi novel and read the blurb it says ''... but is their love strong enough to survive the distance?'' Or something a long those lines, you know what I mean. I never bother reading them because I think/already know how it'll end. This book however, was in no way predictable, I never saw any of the little plot twists coming.

Everyone's been saying how great this book is, add that to the fact that this book looks beautiful.... I really had no other choice but to read it. And I'm so glad I did because this book is incredible.

It has a strong plot line. Which really sets it apart from all the other sci-fi books. Everything in it made
sense and was so well thought through. I was surprised at how realistic it was; If aliens ever made contact with us this is exactly how the world would react. It included little bits of science and end-of-the-world stuff, which are both things that interest me so that's a bonus.

Something that also surprised me was how much this book made me smile. It had so many witty comments and funny moments. And watching Aelyx learn all about Earth and our cultures was kind of hilarious. Speaking of Aelyx *swoon*, this book definitely has some cutesy moments, but it was never cheesy and I can not wait to see how their relationship continues.

Basically: this book is the perfect balance of everything. And I recommend to everyone, even if you don't usually enjoy sci-fi.
