Unboxing #3 | Author Package Book & Swag

TFIOS Lamp | Bookey DIY #1

So a while ago I came up with the idea of a TFIOS lamp! A lot of you on Instagram loved it and because this is not a particularly hard or time consuming project I thought I would teach you how to make one yourself!
There will be a video tutorial on my BookTube channel soon.

What You Need:

- A square canvas any size you like
- Paper/printer
- Blue spray paint (or paint)
- Pillow filling
- Fairy Lights
- Masking take
- Glue gun
- Sharp knife
- Pencil

What to do:

1. Spray paint the entire canvas blue. Make sure you spray outside because the smell is strong! If you want to use blue paint instead that'll work too. I prefer spray paint because it gives a nice even layer of paint. Keep in mind that this needs to dry, so you may want to do this ahead of time.

2. Print and cut out the clouds from the cover and glue it on the middle of your canvas. Get creative! You can use the exact clouds from the cover, the ''Okay? Okay.'' clouds or any other cool fan art you find!
3. Count the number of lights on your fairy light wire. Draw the right number of dots where you want the lights to be. Now we're going to make the holes. Carefully put the tip of the knife on a dot and twist the knife whilst gently pushing down. Now when you turn the canvas around and push in the fairy lights they should pop into place. Remember to be careful with the knife! Once all the fairy lights are in you can secure them with masking tape on the back of the canvas.

4. Now's the best part! Use the glue gun to add little bits of fluff around each light. It looks best when you make all the clouds slightly different shapes and sizes!

And there you go! You're finished!
Let me know in the comments if you liked this and if you want to see more Bookey DIY's (For example: bottle cap magnets and charms or a beautiful vintage bag made out of an old book!)

If you make a TFIOS lamp make sure you post it on Instagram and tag @thatgirwithbooks! (You might end up on the blog and win cool bookish prizes!)

Against Her Will Spotlight Part2 | Excerpt

As you may or may not know, That Girl With Books has teamed up with Jo Schaffer, author of Against Her Will, to share will you a series of posts leading up to the release on 30th March! This week: an excerpt! Stay tuned for an author interview next week!

"A heartbreaking and beautiful combination of suffering and empowerment no one should miss out on." --Joey King, Actress (Oz the Great and Powerful, The Conjuring, White House Down)

“A compelling glimpse of life inside the teenage mind, AGAINST HER WILL, was a fascinating train wreck I couldn't look away from and read in one sitting.”--Elana Johnson, Author, the Possession series (Simon Pulse)
Excerpt:
(TONY)
The sun came through the window of the dayroom and seemed to light Cassidy's hair on fire. Tony felt his blood stir. She slouched in her chair, resting a cheek on the table, her breakfast untouched. His gaze travelled over the curve of her hips and waist, the bend of her back. Hot.
Tony sat in a chair across from her, picked a piece of bacon off of her tray and took a bite. Her green eyes rolled in his direction as she struggled to focus.
“Hey, girl. You look splifficated.” He smiled on one side.
“The hell did they give me?” she mumbled. It was cute the way her lips hung open just a little.
“Heh. Who knows? Good, though. Sometimes I act crazy just to get some. Closest thing to high you can get in here … unless you’re me and know how to get stuff now and then.”
She looked unimpressed. Lifting her head from the table she frowned, at him. “I hate
feeling like this.”
Tony shrugged. “Not for everyone.” He chewed the bite in his mouth. Nothing better than the taste of bacon while staring at a hot girl. Well, maybe one thing.

Against Her Will | Spotlight

Spotlight is a feature in which I help you add to your TBR list by teaming up with authors to show you all their amazing books! That Girl With Books rarely takes part in book-blitzs or blog-tours (unless an author asks us to), we prefer teaming up with authors so we don't just show you the books that all the other blogs are showing you!

Announcement!
This month I have teamed up with Jo Schaffer. Her book ''Against Her Will'' will be coming out on March 30. (Pre-order here!)
In these three weeks leading up to the release I will be sharing with you: an exclusive excerpt and an interview with the author! Sound good? Keep reading!
The excerpt will be up on 16/3/15 and the interview on 23/3/15

''Against Her Will'' covers a lot of very important topics surrounding mental health, you can click here to read a Post Jo Schaffer wrote about it. I think these topics topics will make it an interesting, but also very important, book to read. Even if mental illnesses are not something affecting you directly, it is still really important to be aware of them, and I think reading a book about something is the best way to gain a basic understanding of it.

Now some more about the book.....
Isn't it beautiful? Personally, this cover definitely catches my attention and I can honestly say I'm super intrigued. I love what they did with the title, and the colours just work so perfectly! Intrigued yet? I thought so....

Synopsis:
A YA novel BASED ON ACTUAL EVENTS
My name is Cassidy Connor and my parents hate me. Well, they can go to hell. After yet another fight with my manipulative lawyer father and bible thumping mother, I disappear onto Hollywood Blvd among the other street kids. Or so I thought. The cops pick me up for a BS crime I didn't commit, and Dad announces the only way I can avoid charges is to voluntarily admit myself into Oak Dale, a psych ward for crazy teens. I don t belong there my parents are the real nutjobs but it s not like I have a choice.

At Oak Dale, everyone is going on about the kid who just killed himself trying to escape. How could they dump me in a place like this? I'm thrown in with my anorexic roommate, Erin; foster care system victim, Gina; and pyromaniac Tony. Guess he likes to light em up. All of us are unwanted baggage, here against our will. I quickly learn only the strong survive Oak Dale and some of us won t make it out alive.

Intrigued yet? I thought so....
